St Matthew's is an inner city parish with an associated primary school and early childhood centre. The Parish facilities provide a venue in the centre of Hastings for a variety of parish and community events and services, including an opportunity shop, craft and art groups and preschool facilities. The historic church, built in 1886 and extended in 1914, includes a substantial pipe organ and some of the finest stained glass windows in the nation. The church is normally open most weekday mornings and at other times by arrangement.
